On 23 September 2026 in Hai Phong, Petro Vietnam Power Corporation – JSC (PV Power), represented by its authorised representative, the Technical Services Center Branch of Petro Vietnam Power Corporation – JSC (PV Power TSC), and Hai Duong Pump Manufacturing Joint Stock Company (HAPUMA) signed a Cooperation Agreement to research, develop and localise mechanical equipment, materials and spare parts for thermal power plants.

The signing ceremony was attended, on behalf of PV POWER, by Mr Ngo Van Chien, Deputy General Director of the Corporation; Mr Nguyen Minh Tuan, Director of PV Power TSC; and leaders of the Corporation’s divisions and power plants, including Ha Tinh Power Company, Nhon Trach Power Company and Ca Mau Power Company.
Representing HAPUMA were Mr Nguyen Trong Tieu, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr Nguyen Trong Nam, Member of the Board of Directors and General Director; together with other members of the Board of Directors, the Board of Management and heads of the Company’s business units.

As power plants place increasing emphasis on cost optimisation, shorter maintenance and repair times, and greater control over equipment supply, strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities has become increasingly important. Against this backdrop, PV Power TSC and HAPUMA agreed to strengthen cooperation and build on their respective strengths in researching and manufacturing mechanical equipment for the power sector, with a view to gradually increasing the participation of domestically manufactured mechanical products in the supply chains of thermal power plants.
A key focus of the ceremony was HAPUMA’s introduction of its capabilities in casting Duplex and Super Duplex stainless steel. These materials require stringent control over metallurgy, chemical composition, casting processes and subsequent machining, and are used in demanding operating environments where high strength and corrosion resistance are required.
HAPUMA’s research into and development of Duplex and Super Duplex steel casting technology is the result of years of investment, testing and process refinement. This capability provides a foundation for HAPUMA to manufacture pump components, materials, spare parts and mechanical equipment designed to meet the specific operating requirements of the energy sector.

Following the signing ceremony, the delegation visited HAPUMA’s Metal Casting Plant and learned about the material refining process used in the manufacture of booster pumps. The visit provided delegates with a closer look at HAPUMA’s capabilities in metallurgy, casting and quality control – key processes that contribute to equipment reliability during operation.

Under the Cooperation Agreement, PV Power TSC and HAPUMA will continue to discuss, research and develop products and equipment to meet the actual operating requirements of thermal power plants. The agreement provides a basis for the two parties to gradually put their cooperation into practice, contributing to greater self-reliance in the supply of equipment, materials and spare parts, as well as in domestic maintenance and repair capabilities.
